Motoring carries many personal obligations and legal responsibilities, both to yourself and others. There are many laws associated with running and keeping a car on our overcrowded roads. In addition to obeying the rules you also need respect for your fellow road users including other drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

For most of the qualifications you gain in your life you will need to keep refreshing your skills with ongoing continuing professional development. This is not a requirement for most driving licence holders. There are however many clubs and organisations out there for developing your ongoing skills behind the wheel. You might want to consider some of the following ideas:

Since 1997 new legislation was put in place that directly affects new drivers called The New Driver Act. If you gain six penalty points on your driving licence within two years of passing your driving test, your licence will be revoked. You can get penalty points for many different driving offences. Some of which are listed below:

1 in 3 male drivers aged between 17 and 20 crash in the first two years after passing their driving test. 1 in 5 drivers crash within their first year of driving. Try and avoid driving recklessly, it’s not just your life that will be affected if you are involved in an accident that results in personal injury.

If your licence is revoked you must apply again for a Provisional Driving Licence. You will need to drive in accordance to the Provisional Licence ie. you must use L plates and you must be accompanied by someone who is a minimum of 21 years old and has held a Full Driving Licence for a minimum of 3 years. To regain your Full Driving Licence your will have to retake and pass the UK Theory Test and UK Practical Driving test again.
